Introducing Strands: The New York Times’ Latest Word Game Sensation

Step aside, Wordle, Connections, and Mini Crossword—there’s a new NYT word game in town that’s capturing the attention of daily puzzlers everywhere. The New York Times has introduced “Strands,” a game that offers daily themes and challenging “spangrams” for players to decipher, making it the latest addictive addition to the lineup of daily activities available on the NYT website and app.

To play Strands, players must find theme words that fill the board, which remain highlighted in blue once discovered. By dragging or tapping letters, players can create words, with theme words filling the board completely and never overlapping. Additionally, players must uncover the “spangram,” a clue that describes the puzzle’s theme and touches two opposite sides of the board, highlighting in yellow once found. Need a hint? By finding non-theme words, players can earn hints that reveal the letters of a theme word.

Today’s Strands theme is “All aboard!” with six theme words to uncover, including the spangram. The first two letters of each word are provided as a sneak peek to get players started on their quest to complete the puzzle.

The Spangram hint for today’s puzzle reveals that it is a mix of vertical and horizontal, offering an extra challenge for players to tackle. The answer for today’s Spangram is PASSENGERTRAIN, a fitting theme for the clue “All aboard!”

In addition to the Spangram answer, players can also uncover the answers for the theme words: COACH, QUIET, DINING, SLEEPER, and OBSERVATION. Each word plays a role in completing the puzzle and revealing the overall theme.

As players work through the daily Strands challenge, they will find themselves engrossed in the intricate process of uncovering theme words and piecing together the puzzle to reveal the hidden message. With each completed puzzle, players can test their word skills and challenge themselves to conquer the daily Strands challenge.
