How Illinois Sheriff’s Deputy Shamone Duncan Was Killed in Shooting While on Vacation

Illinois sheriff’s deputy Shamone Duncan was tragically shot and killed in Turks and Caicos over the weekend.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RT&CIPF) confirmed the news in a statement.

The 50-year-old Cook County Deputy was on vacation celebrating her sister’s birthday when the incident occurred.

Duncan, along with local resident Dario Stubbs and an unnamed 29-year-old man, was reportedly shot around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the Police Control Room received reports of gunfire in the vicinity of a bar along Grace Bay Road,” stated Acting Commissioner Rodney Adams.

“Responding officers discovered three individuals injured in the shooting, one of whom died at the scene and the other at the hospital.”

Duncan had a 21-year career with the Cook County Department of Corrections.

According to ABC7 Chicago, she was employed at Cermak Health Services at the time of her passing.

She is also survived by two daughters and a granddaughter.
