How Hailey Bieber Suffered Deadly Postpartum Complication After Son Jack’s Birth

Hailey Bieber is opening up about the challenging birth of her first child, son Jack Blues Bieber, revealing that she experienced a postpartum hemorrhage.

In an interview for Vogue‘s May 20th cover story, she described childbirth as “the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

Bieber recalled that at 39 weeks pregnant, she began leaking amniotic fluid and was induced into labor. “That s–t was so crazy. That was not fun. They broke my water. I went into labor and I labored for a few hours. No epidural, nothing,” she shared. The entire process lasted 18 hours.

However, complications continued after her son’s birth on August 22nd. Hailey experienced a postpartum hemorrhage, a serious condition involving severe bleeding after childbirth.

This condition, which affects a small percentage of deliveries, can lead to shock, organ failure, or even death.

Bieber described the experience as “a little bit scary.” Despite trusting her doctor completely, she admitted, “I was bleeding really badly, and people die, and the thought crosses your mind.”

She also spoke about the postpartum period itself, calling it “the most sensitive time” she has gone through.

Parenthood, she said, has transformed her perspective, including how she views her husband Justin Bieber, whom she married in 2018. “You see your partner so differently,” she noted, praising Justin as an “amazing dad.”

Justin Bieber, in an email interview for the article, expressed that parenthood made him feel like he was “walking in the days I always dreamed of.”

Now a mother of one, Hailey Bieber sees parenthood as her “biggest teacher.” “I think you empathize with your parents a lot more. There’s so much perspective that comes with it,” she concluded.
