How Ex-Convict in Kano State Deceives Women with Government Assistance Scam

An ex-convict in Kano State, Mohammed Usman, has been apprehended for deceiving women and stealing their phones by pretending to offer government assistance.

The 27-year-old suspect targeted unsuspecting women by offering fake government intervention schemes, luring them into handing over their mobile phones. After one victim reported the scam, seventeen more women came forward with similar complaints, revealing a pattern of fraudulent activity.

Usman, who had been convicted previously for the same offence, is now detained at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, along with three suspected receivers.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged the public to be cautious of such offers, especially from unknown sources.

He encouraged anyone who fell victim to come forward and assist in the investigation. The arrest serves as a reminder to stay vigilant and sceptical of offers that seem too good to be true.

The incident highlights the importance of staying informed, trusting instincts, and not falling prey to deceptive schemes that target vulnerable individuals.
