Tragedy struck on January 20, 2023, when Ava Wood was fatally shot while asleep in her room, allegedly by her own father, Christopher Wood.
The 51-year-old then turned the gun on himself, leaving behind a devastating scene.
Authorities were alerted by Ava’s mother, Heather Wood, who grew concerned when her daughter failed to attend school and couldn’t reach her estranged husband despite cars being parked at the residence.
A chilling phone conversation the night before, in which Christopher said, “This is how it ends for us,” further raised Heather’s alarm. While their relationship had never been violent, Heather revealed two prior incidents – harassing texts and stalking – which hinted at underlying tensions.
