Henry Winkler to Star in NBC Comedy “Last Chance Lawyer”

Henry Winkler, the TV icon known for his role in “Happy Days,” is not slowing down in his career anytime soon. According to Deadline, the 80-year-old Emmy winner is set to star in a new comedy titled “Last Chance Lawyer,” currently in development at NBC. This marks another high-profile return to television for Winkler, who will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

“Last Chance Lawyer,” written and executive produced by Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller, centers on the character of Howard Greenberg, a tough criminal defense attorney played by Winkler. The project’s description paints Greenberg as a fierce advocate for underdog clients, believing that “the system is always guiltier” no matter the accusations.

In addition to Winkler, Gagerman and Waller will executive produce alongside Jed Mercurio and Jimmy Mulville for Hat Trick Media. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is behind the project.

If the comedy moves forward, it would signal NBC’s return to the legal-comedy genre following the recent conclusion of the “Night Court” revival. This would also mark Winkler’s first time back at NBC in years, after his memorable recurring role on “Parks and Recreation.”

Winkler’s busy schedule doesn’t stop here. In recent years, he has earned acclaim for his Emmy-winning performance on HBO’s “Barry” and has appeared in projects such as Apple TV+’s “Loot” and the film “Normal.” Additionally, he has the upcoming film “Rolling Loud” slated for release later this year.

Winkler’s commitment to his craft is unwavering, as he recently expressed on the “IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson” podcast that retirement is not in his plans. His dedication to acting and creativity shines through in his work, from his iconic role in “Happy Days” to his more recent projects.

As Henry Winkler continues to add new chapters to his television legacy, it’s clear that slowing down is not part of his plan. His passion for acting and storytelling drives him forward, making him a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.
