Moby, the acclaimed EDM artist known for his chart-topping hits in the mid-1990s, recently unveiled details about his upcoming 23rd studio album, titled “Future Quiet.” The announcement of this new project comes hot on the heels of a revamped version of his hit track “When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die,” a song that has been prominently featured in the popular Netflix series “Stranger Things.”
Scheduled for release on February 20, “Future Quiet” is expected to take a minimalist approach similar to his 2023 album “Ambient 23,” focusing primarily on piano and atmospheric soundscapes. The lead single of the album, “When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die,” originally performed by Mimi Goese in 1995, has been reimagined with the soulful vocals of Jacob Lusk, the frontman of Gabriels.
Moby expressed his admiration for Lusk’s vocal talent, stating, “Like anyone who’s heard Jacob sing, I immediately fell in love with his voice. After hearing him sing on the radio, I spent weeks tracking him down and begging him to work with me. And, lucky me, he agreed.” The collaboration resulted in what Moby describes as “transcendent” vocals on the reworked track.
The album will feature 14 tracks, showcasing vocal performances from Jacob Lusk, Elise Serenelle, India Carney, and Serpentwithfeet. Additionally, Moby is set to embark on a tour in 2026, with details expected to be announced soon.
