On the 27th of March, Libya, a North African country announced its first case of corona virus. This case was confirmed even amidst the battle between Benghazi rebels led by Khalifa Haftarand the UN backed government in Tripoli.

There have always been fears about corona virus taking hold of Libya amidst the war and conflict in the region especially due to the fact that the health system of the country has been suffering since the war began in 2011.
Also, in West Africa, Mali confirmed its first two cases of corona virus from two citizens (a 49 year old woman from Bamako and a 62 year old man from Kayes) who returned from France on 12th and 16th of March respectively.
