Emily Ratajkowski Accuses Robin Thicke of Sexual Assault on Set

In her book, My body, Emily Ratajkowski has accused Robin Thicke of sexually assaulting her on the set of the music video for Blurred Lines.

Blurred Lines which was released in 2013 was controversial for glorifying rape culture with lyrics, “I know you want it”. This led to the song being banned in a number of nightclubs and university campuses. The video featured Emily Ratajkowski and two other models.

Now 30 years old, Emily Ratajkowski alleges that Robin Thicke groped her breasts during the filming of the video. In her book, she writes,

“Suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt the coolness and foreignness of a stranger’s hands cupping my bare breasts from behind.”

According to her, she suddenly moved away and looked back at Robin Thicke who then gave her a goofy grin while stumbling backwards.

Emily adds that his actions made her feel naked and she has since been desperate to minimise the incident.

Diane Martel, the video director who was also present on set that day told The Times that she remembered the moment. She also remembers screaming at Thicke and questioning his behaviour, following which he sheepishly apologised.

In 2015, Blurred Lines saw a jury determine that Robin Thicke and Pharell Williams copied Marvin Gaye’s music to create the song. The result was a $7.4m (£5.5m) compensation awarded to Marvin Gaye’s children.
