Have you ever imagined finding a whimsical winter escape in the middle of a bustling airport terminal? Well, Urban Outfitters has made that dream a reality at Chicago O’Hare International Airport with their festive lounge “Club Holiday.” This temporary installation, part igloo and part sandcastle, aims to bring comfort and joy to weary travelers during the chaotic holiday season.
Launched on Nov. 19, 2025, “Club Holiday” is a key component of Urban Outfitters’ “Everything, Everywhere, All You Want” campaign. The lounge, located in Terminal 2 and running through Dec. 14, offers a playful pause for those passing through one of the busiest airports in the nation. With vibrant and festive design elements, it provides a much-needed moment of calm and relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle of holiday travel.
What inspired Urban Outfitters to create a lounge in an airport? According to UO Head of Brand Marketing, Cyntia Leo, the goal is to ease the stress of the holiday season and create genuine moments of joy for travelers. By meeting their community where they are during high-stress times, like the holidays, Urban Outfitters hopes to make the season feel more manageable and bring a bright spot to their customers’ journeys.
The lounge at O’Hare blends physical design with digital utility, allowing guests to play holiday games, snag exclusive brand swag, and build their holiday gift registries through a Canva wishlist integration. Surprise appearances from Gen Z creators and community builders add an extra layer of excitement and engagement to the experience.
But the holiday fun doesn’t stop at O’Hare. Urban Outfitters is teaming up with Nike in New York City for a different kind of holiday event. From Dec. 5-6, the two brands are launching a giant puffer-inspired bounce house to celebrate Nike’s latest collection, available at Urban Outfitters. This unique, two-day event offers fans a playful way to “jump into the season” and enjoy the holiday spirit in a creative and memorable way.
The twin activations at O’Hare and in NYC reflect a larger retail trend of using temporary, experiential spaces to connect with consumers emotionally during peak shopping times. By transforming high-traffic locations into fun and engaging moments for their community, Urban Outfitters is creating unique and memorable experiences that go beyond traditional retail interactions.
As we navigate the holiday season and the chaos of travel, spaces like “Club Holiday” and the Nike bounce house offer a welcome reprieve and a chance to embrace the joy and excitement of the season in unexpected ways. So next time you find yourself at an airport or shopping in the city, keep an eye out for these creative and immersive experiences that bring a touch of magic to your holiday season.
