Dancing With the Stars Semifinals: Robert Irwin and Witney Carson’s Aussie Taste Test

The semifinals of Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars are just around the corner, and the latest challenge from Robert Irwin to his pro partner Witney Carson has left fans in awe. Irwin, known for his love of Australian culture, decided to introduce Carson to the quintessential Aussie taste test. In a playful Instagram video shared by Irwin, the duo, in between rehearsals for the semifinals, can be seen enjoying a quick snack considered a national staple in Australia.

After Carson had already had a koala named after her and learned how to wrangle a (stuffed) crocodile, the final task was to try Vegemite. Made of brewers yeast and seasoned with onion, celery, and salt, according to Food 52, this beloved spread is a taste that you either love or hate. In the video, Irwin introduces Vegemite to Carson, who humorously exclaims, “I have heard horrible things about this,” only for Irwin to assure her that there are also some good things to be said about it.

Irwin, spreading butter on rice crackers before topping them with a small amount of Vegemite, offers Carson a taste. Her reaction? “That is the saltiest.” Irwin, on the other hand, confidently takes a spoonful and relishes the taste, declaring, “It’s so good.” Carson, honored by Irwin as an “honorary Australian” for having tried the Vegemite, takes the challenge in stride.

Social media users weighed in on the fun exchange, with one commenting, “Robert is enjoying this too much.” Another noted, “It’s an acquired taste.” Even Irwin’s mother, Terri Irwin, joined in, revealing that she is a Vegemite fan herself. Irwin, who originally hails from Oregon, has found a home in Australia for almost 35 years.

As the semifinals of Dancing With the Stars approach, contestants are preparing for a tribute to the music of Prince. Irwin and Carson will showcase their talent with a Jive to “Baby I’m a Star” and a Viennese Waltz to “WOW.” Among the six remaining celebrity contestants, Irwin faces off against the likes of Alix Earle, Whitney Leavitt, Dylan Efron, Elaine Hendrix, and Jordan Chiles.

Whether it’s mastering the Vegemite challenge or rehearsing for the upcoming dances, Robert Irwin and Witney Carson continue to capture the hearts of viewers with their dedication and skill on the dance floor. Tune in to Dancing With the Stars on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+ to see Irwin and Carson in action. With their dynamic performances and Aussie charm, they are sure to leave a lasting impression on audiences.
