The bustling city of Philadelphia is set to become a new hub for ocean adventurers, with the opening of the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal at the SouthPort Marine Terminal Complex. Located conveniently next to Philadelphia International Airport, this 16-acre site is poised to make it easier than ever for Pennsylvania residents to embark on exciting 5- to 11-night voyages without the hassle of flying to other ports like New York, New Jersey, or Florida.

“This is a unique opportunity, and we are fortunate to have two outstanding partners in Energy Transfer and Norwegian Cruise Line, both of whom see tremendous potential in Philadelphia,” said Jeff Theobald, PhilaPort Executive Director and CEO.

Norwegian Cruise Line, renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere and flexible dining options, will be the first cruise line to set sail from Philadelphia. The inaugural season will feature sailings to Bermuda and other destinations, with Norwegian’s three brands operating 41 sailings per year from the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal.

The Norwegian Jewel and Pearl will be the first ships to offer sailings to Bermuda, the Bahamas, and Canada/New England starting in April. In addition to these exciting voyages, a variety of shore excursions will be available, including local tours around Philadelphia.

“As we prepare to launch in 2026, this terminal represents the next wave in our commitment to innovation, regional growth, and delivering an unmatched guest experience from ship to shore,” said Daniel S. Farkas, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Development Officer at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

The announcement of Philadelphia as a new homeport for Norwegian Cruise Line comes at a perfect time, coinciding with America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Visitors can pair their cruise experience with historical events such as visits to Independence Hall, special exhibits at the Museum of the American Revolution, and the Wawa Welcome America festival.

In addition to offering unforgettable experiences for travelers, the PhilaPort Cruise Terminal is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region, generating thousands of jobs and millions in annual economic output.

For those looking to combine a cruise with a dose of history, culture, and perhaps even an Eagles game, 2026 is the year to set sail from Philadelphia. It’s a new era for cruising, and the city is at the forefront of this exciting maritime adventure.
