After an eight-year hiatus, the band has announced the upcoming release of their highly anticipated double LP titled “Good God / Baad Man” on April 3 via the Nuclear Blast label. With a history dating back to 1982 in Raleigh, North Carolina, Corrosion of Conformity has left an indelible mark on the punk, metal, and hard rock genres with iconic albums like “Eye For An Eye,” “Animosity,” “Blind,” and “Deliverance.” However, tragedy struck in January 2020 when drummer Reed Mullin passed away, leading to the amicable departure of bassist Mike Dean shortly after. This left Pepper Keenan and Woody Weatherman as the remaining core members to navigate the band’s future.
Fueled by their shared love for music that influenced them, Keenan and Weatherman found inspiration in bands like Discharge, ZZ Top, Motörhead, Neil Young, and Black Sabbath. Immersing themselves in the creative process, they crafted a wealth of songs that ultimately evolved into the expansive double album “Good God / Baad Man.”
The album’s title reflects the divergent themes explored within its tracks. Keenan describes “Good God” as leaning towards a heavier and more intense sound, while “Baad Man” embodies a more rock-centric energy. Each album within the double LP stands as its own entity, offering a unique perspective on the band’s musical evolution.
To bring their vision to life, Corrosion of Conformity enlisted the talents of drummer Stanton Moore and bassist Bobby “Rock” Landgraf.
