Celine Dion has made a triumphant return to the stage.
After being diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome, the iconic singer courageously performed at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony on Friday.
With the Eiffel Tower as her backdrop, Celine delivered a powerful rendition of Édith Piaf’s classic “Hymne a l’Amour”.
Taking to Instagram, Celine shared a heartfelt carousel of images from her unforgettable performance, giving fans a glimpse into her emotional journey.
“I’m honoured to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favourite cities,” she wrote.
“Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.”
She continued, “All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you!
“You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you!”
After revealing her Stiff-Person Syndrome diagnosis in December 2022, Dion had to postpone her Courage tour dates and Las Vegas residency.
The autoimmune disorder can cause severe muscle stiffness and spasms.
In a June interview with Today, Dion described the sensation of singing with the syndrome as feeling like “somebody is strangling you.”
She expressed the challenges of vocal control due to the condition.
Dion’s documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, premiered on Prime Video, aimed to inspire and bring hope to those facing similar struggles.
