Celebrating Excellence in Children’s & Family Television: The Fourth Annual Emmy Awards

As awards season continues to roll on, the small screen is gearing up for its own celebrations following the Primetime Emmy Awards. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recently unveiled the nominees for its fourth annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, recognizing creativity and innovation in children’s entertainment.

YouTube sensation Ms. Rachel scored her first two Emmy nominations for outstanding preschool, children’s, or family viewing series and outstanding writing for a preschool or children’s series through her “Ms. Rachel – Toddler Learning Videos” channel. Meanwhile, veteran actress June Squibb earned her first nod for outstanding children’s personality thanks to the “Storyline Online” YouTube channel, facing off against Yvette Nicole Brown for Cookie Monster’s Bake Sale: Block Party.

The upcoming Children’s & Family Emmy Awards will see familiar faces from the iconic series Friends, as Lisa Kudrow (Time Bandits) and David Schwimmer (Goosebumps: The Vanishing) both received nominations in the outstanding lead performer in a preschool, children’s, or young teen program category. The competition includes Kit Connor and Joe Locke for “Heartstopper,” Jude Law for “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” Danya Griver for “Malory Towers,” and Nina Toussaint-White for “The Primrose Railway Children.”

Another notable category highlighted by Variety is outstanding single role voice performer in a children’s or young teen program, featuring Cynthia Erivo (RoboGobo), John Lithgow (Spellbound), Maya Rudolph (Dream Productions), John C. Reilly (An Almost Christmas Story), Ernie Hudson (Angry Birds Mystery Island), and Erik Todd Dellums (The Dragon Prince).

“We’re excited to honor the extraordinary individuals and teams who bring children’s and family television to life every day,” shared Rachel Schwartz, the Head of the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards. The ceremony, set to take place on March 1 and 2 in New York City for the first time, promises to celebrate the meaningful and inspiring work of those in the industry.

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, it’s clear that the small screen will continue to offer engaging and innovative content for viewers of all ages. Stay tuned to see who will take home the coveted awards at this year’s ceremony.
