Celebrate Soulfully: Black History Month at Disney Parks

This month at Disney Parks, visitors are in for more than just rides and fireworks. Black History Month is in full swing, and Disney is celebrating with “Celebrate Soulfully,” a series of events on both coasts that showcase music, art, food, and culture in a joyful and communal manner.

At Disneyland Resort, guests can enjoy the return of “Celebrate Gospel” concerts at Downtown Disney. Grammy Award-winning artists Bishop Hezekiah Walker and Yolanda Adams will headline the performances, along with community choirs from Southern California. These concerts are free and open to all, making them a flexible option for park visitors.

The resort is also showcasing heritage trail displays honoring influential Black leaders, artists, and thinkers in various locations like Frontierland and Buena Vista Street. Tributes to figures like Leah Chase and Disney Legend Floyd Norman can be found throughout the resort.

Food plays a big role in the celebration as well, with limited-time dishes available through early March. From a French Quarter-inspired fried chicken bowl at Tiana’s Palace to New Orleans BBQ shrimp at Lamplight Lounge, there’s something for every palate.

Over at Walt Disney World Resort, Celebrate Soulfully kicked off with a special Magic Kingdom parade moment led by Toya Johnson-Rushing as honorary Grand Marshal. The celebration continues throughout February with performances, art installations, and food offerings across the resort.

EPCOT’s International Festival of the Arts features appearances by Black artists and the return of the Disney on Broadway Concert Series, while Disney’s Animal Kingdom brings vibrant drumming groups and Caribbean street performances. Disney Springs has added colorful murals and installations by Black artists, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Celebrate Soulfully is a month-long event at Disney Parks that weaves music, art, food, and storytelling into the everyday experience of a Disney visit. Whether you catch a gospel performance, spot a heritage display, or stumble upon a live show between attractions, the celebration adds an extra layer of joy, history, and connection to a February visit.
