Catchy Loves Lucy: A Tribute to Lucille Ball

Lucille Ball, the fiery redhead who made a lasting impact in the world of comedy, is now receiving a special tribute on Catchy Comedy. The new programming block, Catchy Loves Lucy, will showcase episodes from all five of Ball’s iconic TV shows, as well as her movies and specials, alongside exclusive interviews with her daughter, Lucie Arnaz.

One such interview reveals the beautiful story of how Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz first met. At a rehearsal for the musical comedy Too Many Girls, the couple sat at a small table in the corner, instantly connecting and never being apart from that moment on. Their love story began in 1940 and lasted for 20 years.

Ball’s journey to stardom began in the early 1930s when she started as a model before transitioning to an acting career at RKO Pictures. While major movie success eluded her, she found her breakthrough in the 1940s with the radio show My Favorite Husband, which eventually led to the creation of the groundbreaking sitcom I Love Lucy in the 1950s.

I Love Lucy catapulted Ball to overnight fame and solidified her as a television legend. Not only was she a star, but she also revolutionized the industry by pushing for live studio audiences and pioneering the three-camera setup. Additionally, Ball co-founded Desilu Productions alongside Arnaz, becoming the first woman to run a major television studio.

As a tribute to her enduring impact on comedy, Catchy Loves Lucy will air every Sunday starting on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. ET. The programming will include episodes from all of Ball’s TV shows, movies, and specials, allowing viewers to relive her iconic moments onscreen.

The lineup for Catchy Loves Lucy will feature a rotating mix of shows like I Love Lucy, The Lucy and Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here’s Lucy, and Life with Lucy, as well as TV movies and specials like Lucy and Desi: A Home Movie and Lucy Calls the President. The variety in programming will showcase the range of Ball’s talent and the lasting impact she had on the entertainment industry.

Lucille Ball’s legacy continues to shine bright through Catchy Loves Lucy, a special showcase dedicated to honoring her contributions to comedy. Tune in each Sunday to celebrate the enduring charm and wit of this legendary entertainer.
