Candlebox Announces Resurgence in Music Industry

A resurgence is underway for a band that once believed their journey had come to an end. Candlebox frontman Kevin Martin has confirmed that the ’90s rock group is back in action, actively working on a new album nearly three years after what was supposed to be their farewell tour and final record. Speaking on the Stupid And Contagious Podcast, Martin made it clear that retirement is not on the horizon, despite previous intentions.

In 2023, Martin had thought he was done with the music scene, wanting to focus on his family and life off the road. Candlebox had even released their “farewell album”, The Long Goodbye, and embarked on a tour with the same name, signaling an apparent end. However, opportunities continued to present themselves to Martin, including a stint with Bush and reconnecting with original guitarist Peter Klett. With Klett expressing interest in returning, the band found themselves back in the game, jokingly referring to this new era as the “We Can’t Quit You, Babe” phase.

Candlebox is gearing up for rehearsals in February, with a short spring tour planned in the works while Martin and Klett focus on creating new music. A larger summer tour, a fall run, and potential dates in South America are also on the horizon, with Europe being considered for 2027. Across the rock world, bands once thought to be finished are making comebacks, with former rivals Scott Stapp and Fred Durst announcing a joint performance at the upcoming Summer of ’99 and Beyond Festival.

The resurgence of Candlebox and similar bands signals a shift in the music industry, with artists reclaiming their place in the spotlight after considering retirement or disbandment. As the band prepares for their comeback, fans can expect a new chapter filled with fresh music and performances, proving that the music scene continues to evolve and surprise.
