Cameron Mathison Reflects on One-Year Anniversary of Devastating Fire

Cameron Mathison, one-year anniversary of a heartbreaking day for his family, is commemorating the anniversary of the devastating fires that destroyed his family home in Altadena, Los Angeles. The General Hospital star shared on Instagram how his life has been forever changed by the tragic event, uploading footage of the wreckage of his former home left in ruins.

In the post, Mathison reflected on the loss, stating, “A year since the fire… Loss changed us. Love carried us.” The emotional caption was accompanied by a video showing the aftermath of the fire.

Mathison’s property in Altadena held sentimental value as it was where he and his ex-wife, Vanessa Mathison, raised their two children, Lucas, 22, and Leila, 19. Vanessa, commenting on the Instagram post, expressed her perpetual grief over the loss.

Despite the tragedy, Mathison’s family found a glimmer of hope when they were able to salvage a sentimental item from the fires: a tile sign bearing the name of their family home, “Casa Lula.” The sign, a project fueled by passion and love for the place they called home, was a combination of both his children’s names.

Miraculously recovered amidst the ashes, the sign bore a few cracks, but Mathison revealed plans to piece it back together and transform it into an art piece as a memento of the past and a symbol of moving forward.

In a Good Morning America appearance, the All My Children alum shared the significance of “Casa Lula” and their plans to preserve it. The piece, even with its imperfections, serves as a reminder of their past while they look towards the future.

In a poignant reflection on the anniversary of the fire, Mathison’s Instagram post pays tribute to those affected by the tragedy, wrapping up a year of heartbreak and loss with a message of love and resilience.
