Actress Brooke Shields has candidly shared that her extensive jewelry collection will only be passed down to her younger daughter, Grier Henchy, 19, when she passes away.
In an interview with Only Natural Diamonds published Thursday, Shields, 60, explained that Grier “understands” the true value of the pieces, unlike her older daughter, Rowan Henchy, 22, who “has lost every piece [she’s] ever given her.”
“I literally cannot do it again,” the “Blue Lagoon” star said with a laugh. She further elaborated that Grier “understands the difference between real and ‘real’” and “sees the history, the workmanship, the story behind the institution of these houses.”
Shields, who recently celebrated her milestone 60th birthday, shares both daughters with her husband Chris Henchy, whom she married in 2001.
The “Pretty Baby” star admitted she is “very attached to jewelry and diamonds,” jokingly acknowledging that it “might sound obnoxious.”
However, she explained, “When you’ve worked hard, you’re not waiting to be validated — you do something for yourself. There’s a sense of empowerment in that.”
Shields credits her late mother, Teri, who passed away in 2012, for teaching her the value of diamonds.
“My mom always said, ‘Buy yourself your diamond — don’t wait to be given one from a man,’” she recalled. Her mother even bought her first emerald-cut diamond, which Shields had set in a Verdura cuff.
