Beyoncé is proudly showing love for her mother, Tina Knowles
On Wednesday, May 1, the singer shared an Instagram post congratulating Knowles after her memoir, “Matriarch,” landed on the New York Times bestseller list.
“The Mama T was that good?? Ha. You deserve it, I’m so proud!” Beyoncé wrote alongside a photo of the book with the “New York Times Bestseller” banner.
Knowles revealed that she started writing down her story years ago, initially for her great-grandchildren, as she never met her own grandparents and wanted to preserve her family history.
She noted that she wishes she had asked her late mother, Agnes Buyincé, more about the past.
Interestingly, the book wasn’t originally intended to be a memoir. Knowles had planned to write a behind-the-scenes look at Destiny’s Child and the entertainment industry.
However, as she listened back to her recordings, she decided to pivot and share her own life story.
Knowles explained that she wanted to leave a legacy for her children and also encourage others to record their parents’ stories.
She described her life as an “amazing ride” that she wouldn’t trade for anything.
“Matriarch” is available for purchase now.
