Bella Thorne is vocal about her stance on the rising use of weight loss medication.
The ex-Disney actress criticized the weight loss diabetes drug, commonly known as Ozempic, for promoting unrealistic beauty ideals.
In a video posted on her Instagram Stories over the weekend, Bella flaunted her blue leopard-print bikini while addressing her struggles with body image problems, attributing them to Ozempic.
The actress shared that she previously dealt with body image issues, blaming Ozempic for the cause.
“So, I haven’t been feeling good about my body for a while,” said in a video clip.
“And especially with everybody on Ozempic, it’s like setting all these crazy beauty standards that nobody can keep up with unless you’re on Ozempic.”
Bella also revealed that she has been gaining her confidence again.
“I have swam every day and I have sweat out everything possible and I have walked everywhere.
“And, I’m finally feeling good about myself, OK?”
She continued, “I’m finally feeling good, so Ozempic, you can..” Bella said before flipping off the camera and ending her sentence with “…off.”
Bella has been open about her health struggles over time.
In a video on February 27 this year, she discussed her mental well-being, stating, “I’m doing a mental health check-in. My mental health is not good.”
“On a scale of 1 to crying all night, I’m at a 10,” she said.
“It’s important to make these videos because when we go on social media, we see all this happiness, amazing looks, hair, makeup and everything.
“Even making this list is making me more depressed. But I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s okay to be depressed.”
The post was captioned, “Mental health is important and all the time we push that to the side for everything else in our life.
“It still comes crashing down, so don’t end up like me and do the mental health check ins that are needed before you get to this point.”
Following her post in February, Bella has continued to update her followers on her acting and modeling projects.
Fans and friends also showered her with compliments in the comments, one user wrote, “Absolutely freaking amazing and stunning,” and “So absolutely beautiful. The first photo is my favourite. You look incredible”.
“Beach beauty!! love you so much bella,” said another.
Several other celebrities, including Jillian Michaels, have expressed concerns about the widespread use of weight loss medications, while many celebrity supporters have also applauded it.
