Aubrey Plaza Opens Up About Grief and Resilience Following Husband’s Suicide

Aubrey Plaza, known for her roles in TV shows like Parks and Recreation, recently opened up about her experience with grief after losing her husband, Jeff Baena, to suicide at the age of 47.

In a candid conversation on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, Plaza shared how she is coping with the loss. She mentioned that her dog, Frankie, has been a source of comfort and support during this difficult time.

Despite the daily struggles of grief, Plaza expressed gratitude for being able to navigate through life. She compared her emotions to a scene from the movie The Gorge, where the characters are surrounded by challenges on all sides, much like her experience with grief.

Plaza and Baena had been together since 2011 and got married in 2021, surprising fans with the news. Following his death, Baena’s family released a statement asking for privacy as they dealt with the tragedy.

During her conversations with law enforcement, Plaza revealed that she and Baena had separated months before his passing. She also mentioned that he had been undergoing therapy prior to the incident, although there were no previous suicide attempts.

Law enforcement confirmed that there were no drugs or alcohol involved in Baena’s death, and he did not leave a note before passing away.
