Artillery Fans Revel in Exciting Metal Rock Group News
As the sun rose on Saturday morning, devotees of the Danish metal rock group Artillery were greeted with some thrilling updates. The band took to Facebook to announce a significant development: they have signed a contract with Mighty Music, paving the way for the release of a mini album this spring.
Artillery last blessed fans with new music in 2021 with their tenth studio album, “X”. The band, comprising members Michael Stützer, Martin Steene, Peter Thorslund, René Loua, and Frederik Kjelstrup Hansen, was formed in 1982 and quickly became pioneers of the Danish metal scene. Despite disbanding in 1991 after releasing three studio albums and extensive touring in the 1980s and 1990s, they reunited in 1998 before going their separate ways once more. However, Artillery rose like a phoenix in 2007, and their presence in the music industry is felt to this day.
In a brief caption accompanying their Facebook post, Artillery teased, “We’re excited about this collaboration. More info coming soon. Stay metal. Artillery.” According to Blabbermouth, the EP was mixed at Medley Studio in Copenhagen in October. Additionally, their 2024 live album, “Raw Love (At Copenhell)”, under Mighty Music, features live renditions of hits like “By Inheritance” and “The Devil’s Symphony.”
Artillery’s debut album in 1985, “Fear of Tomorrow”, and subsequent release, “Terror Squad”, shot them to fame in Europe and beyond. Despite their success, the band disbanded for the first time in 1991. Their rebirth came with the release of the CD compilation “Deadly Relics” by Mighty Music, inspiring them to reunite for their fourth album, “B.A.C.K”, in 1999. The band faced intermittent splits in the early 2000s before regrouping for good in 2008.
An article published in June 2022 hinted at Artillery’s participation in the MTV Headbangers Ball Tour and the brewing of their eleventh studio album, scheduled for release in 2023. Details on their upcoming mini album, such as the tracklist or release date, are yet to be revealed. In the meantime, fans can enjoy their discography across various streaming platforms.
It seems that Artillery’s journey is full of peaks and valleys, like a metal ballad that resonates through the ages.
