Joan fell in love with Chock immediately she met him. They formed a deep connection based on their shared experiences of loss.
Joan, previously married to John Vassos for 32 years, struggled with survivor’s guilt after his passing in 2021. Chock, too, has faced significant loss, including the divorce from his 12-year marriage to Heather Chapple and the tragic death of his fiancée, Katherine Elizabeth White Goree, in 2022.

The couple got engaged in Bora Bora during the season finale of The Golden Bachelorette, which was filmed this summer.
After Joan ended things with Guy in his hotel room, she met Chock on the beach.
Unaware that he was the last man standing, the Kansas native felt anxious because Joan hadn’t said “I love you” back to him.
However, she shared with the cameras that she wanted to wait to say those three words until proposal day.
So when she finally told Chock she loved him and wanted to spend her life with him, he proposed with a custom 4-carat Neil Lane Couture diamond ring.
Are Joan and Chock still together?
In the “After the Final Rose” special, The Golden Bachelorette host Jesse Palmer announced that Joan and Chock are still together, calling them the franchise’s “newest Golden Bachelorette couple.” He also surprised them with a trip to Disney World with their families, referencing their first date on the show at Disneyland.
On November 13, Joan shared an Instagram video of herself holding up her ring with her new fiancé by her side, captioning the post, “I said YES!
The following day, Chock posted a series of photos from their engagement in Bora Bora with the simple caption, “I love you @joan_vassos.”
When are Joan and Chock getting married?
No wedding plans have been made just yet. Joan shared with Good Morning America that she wants to experience “a little bit of a normal life” before they begin planning their wedding.
