America’s 250th Birthday Bash: Mount Rushmore Fireworks Spectacular

The grand monument of Mount Rushmore will host a breathtaking fireworks display on July 3rd in celebration of America’s 250th birthday, as reported by USA Today. This event, which marks the first fireworks show held at the park since 2020, is a collaboration between South Dakota and the National Park Service (NPS).

Former President Donald Trump has received a personal invitation to attend the display, but not everyone will be so fortunate. Tickets to the event will be distributed through a lottery system on Recreation.gov, meaning only a select few will have the chance to witness the spectacular show.

The lottery will open on April 8 at 8 a.m. MT and run through April 12 at 9:59 p.m., with winners being notified on April 14. Each entry into the lottery will cost $1, and each winning ticket will admit four people along with one parking option, either a parking space or four seats on a shuttle. Winners will be able to enter the park at 1 p.m. on July 3, provided they have a valid ID and pass through a security checkpoint.

While not everyone will have the opportunity to attend the Mount Rushmore fireworks display, there are plenty of other major fireworks shows planned across the country for America’s 250th birthday. These include Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks and the Star Spangled Spectacle Fireworks Family Cruise in New York, Walt Disney’s “Disney Celebrates America” events over the 4th of July weekend, a massive fireworks display at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and WAWA’s Welcome America series in Philadelphia.

No matter where you choose to celebrate, there’s sure to be a spectacular fireworks display to mark America’s 250th year. Check with your local national or state parks or search online to find holiday fireworks near you and join in the celebration.
