MasterChef: Global Gauntlet presented the remaining 19 home cooks with their first mystery box challenge on night 2 of the eliminations. Surprisingly, when they opened it, all they found inside were eggs.
For this challenge, the contestants were tasked with showcasing their cultural backgrounds by putting a unique twist on the classic Eggs Benedict dish. Before they began, Gordon Ramsay demonstrated how to prepare the dish with a nod to his Scottish heritage.
The winner of the challenge would receive the second Immunity Pin of the season, while one team would face a significant disadvantage that could jeopardize their position in the competition.
Judges Gordon, Joe Bastianich, and Tiffany Derry had the difficult task of selecting the winner of the night and determining who would be eliminated. The victorious contestant would not only take home the MasterChef trophy but also a cash prize of $250,000.
In a spoiler-filled recap, the audience learned who would be leaving MasterChef that night. Camilo Chavez III, representing Mexico, was sadly eliminated from the competition.
Meanwhile, the advancing contestants showcased their culinary skills in the Eggs Benedict challenge. Aishu Challa, holder of the Immunity Pin, strategically penalized Team Europe by assigning them a tiny whisk, slowing down their preparation of the Hollandaise sauce.
Ultimately, Heidi from Team Africa impressed the judges with her dish, earning both the title of the best dish of the night and the Immunity Pin. Her emotional reaction highlighted the significance of the achievement for her.
In the bottom three for the week were Foo from Team Asia-Pacific, Nico from Team Europe, and Camilo from Team Americas. Despite his best efforts, Camilo’s dish did not meet the judges’ expectations, leading to his departure from the competition.
