Apple Faces Backlash over Unfulfilled iPhone Enhancements

As Apple settles a class action lawsuit over phone enhancements from 2024, the tech giant finds itself in hot water over promises made but not delivered. The lawsuit alleged that customers were misled into purchasing updated versions of iPhones with new technology that failed to materialize once they got their hands on the devices. Apple has agreed to a $250 million settlement, denying any wrongdoing but offering compensation to certain customers affected by the case.

The lawsuit was initiated by Peter Landsheft, who claimed Apple falsely advertised enhancements to its iPhone 16 line, including features like Apple Intelligence and a revamped Siri. Landsheft and his lawyers argued that millions of consumers were deceived into buying expensive phones based on features that were never actually included. While Apple denies any deception, the settlement indicates a willingness to compensate those affected by the misleading marketing tactics.

To be eligible for a share of the settlement money, consumers must have purchased specific iPhone models between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. These models include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Each eligible customer stands to receive between $25 to $95 per device, although payments may be subject to judicial review and approval before they are distributed.

While consumers may be eager to collect their compensation, the process of disbursing settlement payments may take some time to navigate through the legal system. Despite the potential for delays, it is highly likely that eligible customers will eventually receive some form of recompense for their troubles. As the legal proceedings unfold, affected parties can anticipate a resolution to the case, albeit with some patience required in the meantime.
