The Wallflowers’ 30th Anniversary Tour: Celebrating Bringing Down the Horse

The Wallflowers, known for their breakthrough album Bringing Down the Horse released 30 years ago, are celebrating this career milestone with an anniversary tour. The tour kicks off on April 17 in Portland, Oregon, and will make stops across the U.S. and Europe before concluding in Dublin on Nov. 22. The band will perform Bringing Down the Horse in its entirety, along with one of their favorite albums by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Jakob Dylan, lead singer of The Wallflowers, shared in a statement with Pitchfork that they wanted to do something special for the 30th anniversary of Bringing Down the Horse. He expressed excitement in playing the fans’ favorite Wallflowers album and also paying tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers by performing Long After Dark.

Dylan has a personal connection to Tom Petty, with the legendary musician giving his last interview to Jakob Dylan. In a 2025 interview with Ed Condran of BreakingAC.com, Dylan reflected on the privilege of speaking with Petty, who maintained a youthful spark and love for music.

Discussing his father Bob Dylan’s enduring creativity, Jakob Dylan emphasized the importance of wisdom gained through experience in songwriting. While acknowledging that rock and roll may be perceived as a young person’s game, Dylan highlighted the significance of evolving as a songwriter over time.
