When Diplo commits to catching his flight, he goes all out. Even if it means pedaling a bike on a busy freeway. The DJ, also known as Thomas Wesley Pentz, shared a video on Instagram of his mad dash to make it to the 2026 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony, recorded on a Saturday in Miami. Instead of a car, he found himself on a Citi Bike, mistakenly thinking it was an e-bike.
The video starts with the text, “I almost missed my flight to the Olympics,” followed by Diplo explaining, “so im making this flight. I thought Citi bikes were e-bikes, they were not, it’s a peddle bike.” What ensued was a chaotic sprint through Miami traffic, including dangerous stretches of highway that were definitely not meant for bikes.
At one point in the video, Diplo pedals alongside the busy freeway, unfazed as he remarks, “It’s a beautiful day in Miami, wherever I am, I’m on the highway.” His assistant shadows him in a black Uber, sometimes leading slightly ahead. Determined, Diplo vows, “But i’ll try, little bike gonna do it,” as he continues his journey. Another text overlay reads, “I will always make my flight…”
After a breathless arrival at the airport, Diplo admits, “That was f**king hard.” The scene then shifts to him onboard the flight, changed into a fresh outfit, sporting sunglasses, and seemingly enjoying champagne mid-air. The final message reads, “see you at the closing ceremony with Major Lazer.”
This daring stunt aligns perfectly with Diplo’s reputation for extreme fitness routines and his renowned run club. Fans in the comments marveled at his determination and nonchalance in the face of challenges.
Major Lazer, the global dancehall collective led by Diplo alongside Walshy Fire, Ape Drums, and new member America Foster, is slated to perform at the Olympics Closing Ceremony in Verona, Italy. The performance, scheduled for Sunday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m. ET, promises to be a highlight of the event.
