Château la Commaraine: A Luxurious Retreat in the Heart of Pommard

In the heart of the renowned wine region of Pommard, a historic gate is poised to open to a new kind of luxury experience for travelers seeking a deeper connection to France. Château la Commaraine, a legendary estate with roots dating back to 1112, will make its grand debut in March 2026 after a meticulous four-year transformation. Situated just 2.5 miles from Burgundy’s wine capital of Beaune, this property will be the region’s first five-star destination offering a truly immersive experience within a working winery.

Vincent Parinaud, the property’s General Manager, emphasizes the importance of honoring Château la Commaraine’s rich history in the design process. Collaborating closely with Architectes des Bâtiments de France, local artisans have preserved the essence of the 12th-century estate by using original white stone and traditional materials. The interiors boast Burgundy’s natural beauty, with warm woods, original white stone, and soft lighting creating a serene and elegant atmosphere.

The 37-room and suite retreat at Château la Commaraine offers guests a journey through history. From the Rotonde Suite in a circular 14th-century medieval tower to the Cuverie Suite positioned above the winery’s vat room, each accommodation tells a unique story. The Mathilde Suite, named after a princess from the château’s past, features a charming fireplace and picturesque vineyard views. For those seeking privacy, the Villa des Vignes offers a four-bedroom residence nestled among the vines, allowing guests to immerse themselves in a slower pace of life where the vineyards are the heart of the experience.

Beyond luxurious accommodations, Château la Commaraine boasts two restaurants led by acclaimed Chef Christophe Raoux. Le Clos, a bistro housed in the 14th-century tower, serves regional classics, while the fine-dining venue LE VIII is located in the château’s original stone cellar. Situated within an 8.9-acre Premier Cru Monopole, where a single estate owns an entire vineyard plot, the property offers unparalleled wine experiences. Guests can engage in winemaker-led tastings, wine safaris to neighboring domaines, and daily viticultural activities.

With amenities such as an 18-meter heated outdoor pool, a full-service spa, and a fitness center, Château la Commaraine invites guests to indulge in a personalized service that aligns with Burgundy’s reputation for excellence. This exclusive experience promises a deeper connection to the region’s history, culture, and, of course, its world-renowned wines.
