Glove Found in Nancy Guthrie Case Sent Back to Arizona for DNA Testing

In a crucial update on the Nancy Guthrie case, a glove discovered two miles from her Tucson home is being sent back to Arizona for further DNA testing. This key piece of evidence in the investigation has already undergone testing in Florida, but the DNA profile cannot be entered into the CODIS system yet, as reported by TMZ.

CODIS, the Combined DNA Index System, is a database containing DNA profiles from convicted offenders, unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons cases. With 27 million profiles currently in the system, federal law mandates that evidence must be tested in the state where it was found before being entered into CODIS.

The decision to send the glove to Florida for testing, rather than keeping it in Arizona, remains unclear to law enforcement sources. However, the glove is now en route back to Arizona for further examination.

According to TMZ, the glove underwent PCR DNA testing, a process that typically yields results within one day. The results are expected to be in CODIS within the next 24 hours, potentially sooner.

Initially confirmed by the FBI on February 15, the glove is said to match those seen in a doorbell camera video of a potential suspect. The FBI is awaiting official confirmation before inputting the unknown male profile into CODIS, a process that usually takes 24 hours.

Individuals with any tips or leads regarding the case are urged to contact the FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Office. A reward of $100,000 is being offered for information leading to Nancy’s whereabouts or the arrest of her kidnapper.

In a striking turn of events related to the case, Sheriff Chris Nanos reveals that his brother passed away the day after Nancy’s disappearance, shedding light on the personal toll the investigation has taken.

As the investigation continues, the importance of thorough DNA testing and analysis cannot be understated, as it holds the key to unlocking crucial information in the search for Nancy Guthrie.
