The vibe was different this time. Ree Drummond, known as The Pioneer Woman, wasn’t the main event. The spotlight had shifted to a more gentle, innocent soul – a calf named Bessie Lou.
On January 24th, the renowned Food Network star shared a touching moment with her Instagram followers. A baby calf, weak and unable to follow its mother, found its way into Ree and her husband Ladd’s care. The couple nurtured the calf, feeding it and providing much-needed strength in the warmth of their garage. They tried in vain to reunite the calf with its mother, but ended up milking her to ensure the calf received the nourishment it desperately needed to thrive.
By February 14th, the calf had a name – Bessie Lou. Ree detailed the calf’s progress in a heartfelt Instagram post, showcasing a video of Ladd bonding with the adorable creature outdoors.
“She sleeps in the barn and Ladd built her a pen that I can see from my office so she can enjoy the sunshine during the day. She thinks she’s a puppy, and she thinks the driveway is a lake,” Ree lovingly wrote about Bessie Lou’s daily routine.
Bessie Lou appeared content and robust, a testament to the Drummonds’ care. While the future reintegration of the calf into the herd wasn’t explicitly mentioned, Ree’s followers expressed immense joy at the calf’s recovery, effusively praising the family’s dedication.
As the comments poured in, one follower shared, “This is the sweetest little baby. I am so glad that she is doing much better. What a sweet baby.” Another remarked, “Sweet baby. She is going to be your granddaughter’s Sofia Scott’s best friend.”
Ree’s daughter, Alex Drummond Scott, echoed the sentiments, “Bessie Lou!!!!! Sofia needs to come meet her.”
With a name as endearing as Bessie Lou, and the care she had received, it seemed inevitable that she would become a cherished part of the Drummond family for a long time to come.
Ree and Ladd Drummond’s life on the ranch continues to captivate audiences on Instagram and their Drummond Ranch YouTube Channel, showcasing the heartwarming moments that define their unique journey.
In the realm of The Pioneer Woman, it’s not just about cooking and country living. It’s about nurturing and kindness, as seen through the eyes of a calf named Bessie Lou.
