Jonathan Cain Surprises Fans with New Solo Single Prior to Final Farewell Tour

Prior to kicking off his highly anticipated farewell tour, iconic ‘80s rocker Jonathan Cain surprised fans with exciting news.

The 75-year-old musician is not only treating his supporters to a series of remarkable shows for the Final Frontier Farewell Tour, but also releasing a new solo single.

In an update on Instagram, Cain shared an early release of “Only A Prayer Away,” a melodic spiritual song meant to provide renewal, comfort, and hope during challenging times.

Released a few days earlier than scheduled, the single is now available for streaming on various platforms. In his caption, Cain expressed his hope that the song will uplift and encourage listeners, reminding them that God is always close by.

Fans responded with overwhelming admiration, praising Cain’s timeless voice and heartfelt delivery.

“Jonathan has a great singing voice,” one wrote.

“Love it! Great outro transition!! Feeling it!” another commenter said.

The singer-songwriter aims for “Only a Prayer Away” to comfort and inspire people, encouraging them to seek healing for the mind and heart.

“This song is for anyone who’s been tired, overwhelmed, or searching for hope,” he shared in an interview. “If you’ve been feeling crushed lately, carrying pain nobody sees, need healing in your heart, your mind, your home — Jesus is closer than you think. He’s only a prayer away.”

The release of Cain’s new song comes ahead of the start of Journey’s farewell tour.

During a recent appearance on The 700 Club Asia, Cain expressed his desire for a proper farewell to his fans who have supported him throughout his time in Journey.

“It’s time for me, at my age. I wanna live my life, you know, and the road just is so consuming and it just seems like a good time to get off, for me,” he shared.

Cain is set to embark on a multi-city North American tour, starting on Feb. 28 in Pennsylvania, with stops including Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., Vancouver, Atlantic City, and more. Joining him are band members Neal Schon, Arnel Pineda, Deen Castronovo, Todd Jensen, and Jason Derlatka.

The Final Frontier Farewell Tour dates include performances in various cities across North America from February through July.
