As the last episode of “All My Children” aired on ABC in 2011, fans have anxiously awaited the return of Susan Lucci’s iconic character, Erica Kane. Recently, there have been mentions of Erica on “General Hospital,” sparking speculation about a potential crossover appearance by Lucci herself.
In a conversation with TV Insider’s Stephanie Sloan while promoting her upcoming memoir “La Lucci,” Daytime Emmy winner Susan Lucci discussed her career and the current daytime television landscape. The resurgence of interest in the genre, highlighted by CBS’s new soap “Beyond the Gates,” was a focal point of the discussion.
When asked about the possibility of reprising Erica Kane on “General Hospital,” Lucci responded, “I don’t want to say never, but I want to see if this really pans out with Kelly and Mark.” This was in reference to the project announced by her former “All My Children” co-star Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos, who are developing two movies based on the beloved soap for Lifetime.
Kelly Ripa has previously attempted to revisit the “All My Children” universe with a primetime reboot project titled “Pine Valley,” centered around a young journalist entangled in a feud between the Kane and Santos families. Elements of the original series have continued to appear on ABC’s daytime lineup since its conclusion, keeping the spirit of Pine Valley alive.
While Lucci expressed her interest in returning directly to “All My Children,” she did not rule out the idea of a crossover with “General Hospital.” She acknowledged fans’ desires for such a reunion and praised the quality of the show, leaving the door open for a potential collaboration down the road.
“General Hospital” airs weekdays on ABC and streams on Hulu weeknights. Lucci’s memoir, “La Lucci,” is set to be released at major bookstores on February 3, 2026.
In the ever-evolving landscape of daytime television, the legacy of “All My Children” and its beloved characters continues to captivate audiences and spark conversations about the future of the genre.
