“Days of Our Lives” Shakeup: Four Young Actors Depart from the Soap Opera

The unexpected departure of four central young actors from “Days of Our Lives” has sent shockwaves through the soap’s loyal fanbase. Carson Boatman, Raven Bowens, Ashley Puzemis, and Leo Howard have been released from the long-running Peacock drama, signaling a major casting shakeup for the iconic show.

Soap Opera Digest confirmed the cast changes, with the firings of Boatman, Bowens, Puzemis, and Howard coming as a surprise to many fans. The departures mark the first major shift under head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford, as well as Executive Producer Noel Maxam. A spokesperson for the show told Soap Opera Digest’s Mara Levinsky, “Our goal is to balance the show’s rich history with where we’re headed creatively.”

The news of Bowens joining the show in 2021, taking over the role of Chanel Dupree from Precious Way, was met with excitement. Boatman’s debut as adult Johnny DiMera later that year brought new energy to the show, especially in his on-screen relationship with his twin-sister Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold).

The relationship between Johnny and Chanel has been a central storyline filled with love triangles, supernatural possessions, and emotional ups and downs. Most recently, the couple adopted their son, Trey, and received news of Chanel’s pregnancy, adding layers to their on-screen dynamic.

Puzemis joined the show in 2023 as Holly Jonas, while Howard took on the role of Tate Black in 2024. Their characters’ transition from high school to college has been a highlight of the show’s younger set, providing relatable stories for viewers of all ages.

Despite these unexpected cast changes, fans can expect to see Boatman, Bowens, Puzemis, and Howard on-screen for the next nine to ten months due to the show’s advanced production schedule.

As news of the cast departures spread on social media, fans shared their disappointment and confusion. One user expressed sadness over Boatman’s departure, calling him a breakout star with a promising future. Another fan questioned the decision, wondering if it was all just a joke.

“Days of Our Lives” continues to stream on Peacock weekdays, with viewers eagerly anticipating how the show will navigate these recent casting changes.
