Ageless Achievements: Natalie Grabow’s Inspirational Journey to Fitness

At 80 years old, retired software engineer Natalie Grabow proves that age is just a number when it comes to fitness. Her journey began after college, and instead of slowing down with age, she ramped up her physical activity. Skiing, tennis, running, road races, spin classes, and step aerobics were just the beginning. At 59, she dove into the world of swimming and became a triathlete. Now, at 80, she holds the title of the oldest woman to complete the Ironman World Championship. Grabow isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

With over 16 Ironman triathlons under her belt, as well as almost 50 half-Ironman races, Grabow’s determination is unmatched. Her weekly workout routine, guided by coach Michelle Lake, includes swimming, running, and biking multiple times a week. Whether she’s in the off-season or preparing for a race, Grabow’s dedication to training is unwavering.

Outside of her intense workout schedule, Grabow’s days are filled with movement, from household chores to caring for her husband of 56 years. Getting enough sleep is a priority, with Grabow hitting the hay at 9 p.m. and rising early. Her commitment to overall health and well-being extends beyond the gym, showing that fitness is a lifestyle.

As she gears up for the future, Grabow has her sights set on three 70.3 races in 2026 when she’ll be 81 years old. While her achievements may seem intimidating, Grabow’s story serves as a powerful reminder of what’s possible at any age.
