NCIS: Tony & Ziva Canceled After One Season

Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo will not be returning for a second season of NCIS: Tony & Ziva. According to Deadline on December 19, the series has been canceled.

The first, and only, season of NCIS: Tony & Ziva aired on Paramount+.

Deadline shared a joint statement released by de Pablo and Weatherly regarding the show’s cancellation. “We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story,” the duo noted.

The pair thanked everybody involved in making the show happen, and added, “But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”

Although NCIS: Tony & Ziva will not return with new episodes, the initial season is currently still available to stream on Paramount+.

Fans took to the NCIS subreddit as soon as the news emerged to share their thoughts. Some thought it was perplexing that anybody was surprised, while others were disappointed.

One Reddit user wrote, “I always felt this is intended for one season only and they manage to wrap it up quite nicely.”

Another shared, “It’s almost like this was advertised as a one season special. I do not understand why everyone is shocked?? Like it would have been great for a second season sure, but it was never in the plans.”

Someone else commented, “So disappointing, the show had so much potential. I do hope we’ll get to see these characters again someday. Still, season 1 ended on a sweet note. Tony and Ziva got their happily ever after!”

An additional Reddit response read, “Well, as someone that was a huge huge fan, I was so excited to watch it and was instantly disappointed. It had a sad depressed vibe and that’s not what I waited all these years for lol. It was a great idea, but badly done.”
