Cruising into the World Cup: How Major Cruise Lines are Balancing Vacation and Soccer Fans in 2026

As the summer of 2026 approaches, many travelers are anticipating a dilemma: how to enjoy a cruise vacation without missing out on the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup. Fortunately, major cruise companies have already begun preparing to ensure that guests can catch all the action while at sea.

The tournament is set to take place across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026, making it a prime time for cruise lines to cater to soccer fans on board. Several leading companies have confirmed that they will be screening the matches, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in both their vacation experience and the excitement of the World Cup.

Carnival Corporation, known for its brands Holland America Line, Princess, P&O Cruises, Cunard, and Seabourn, has secured the rights to broadcast all 104 World Cup matches across its fleet. Holland America Line will show games on stateroom televisions via Sport 24 Special Event Channels, with select matches displayed on pool-deck screens or in larger venues such as the World Stage.

Princess Cruises will offer in-cabin viewing across its 17 ships cruising various destinations, with select matches also screened on Lido Decks. P&O Cruises and Cunard will show games in traditional onboard pubs like Brodie’s and the Golden Lion, with high-profile fixtures including England matches taking place in larger spaces like SkyDome and The Pavilion. Seabourn will provide access to all 104 matches in guest suites and public areas on its ocean fleet.

The Royal Caribbean Group, including Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, has also confirmed that World Cup matches will be shown on their ships. Coverage is expected to include sports bars, lounges, and large-screen venues, with priority given to major matches based on sailing schedules and guest interest.

MSC Cruises has joined the lineup by confirming plans to screen World Cup matches during the summer of 2026. Games will be shown in sports lounges and public viewing areas, with schedules designed to accommodate time-zone differences across different itineraries.

In the summer of 2026, cruise enthusiasts can rest assured that they won’t have to miss out on the World Cup action while at sea. With major cruise companies committing to providing coverage of the matches, guests can enjoy a seamless sailing experience without having to sacrifice their love for soccer.
