Former NFL Players of The Pro Players Group Shine in Momentous Anthem Performance at Giants vs. Commanders Game

The New York Giants and the Washington Commanders faced off in a thrilling matchup that not only showcased on-field action but also highlighted the soulful voices of The Pro Players Group.

Former NFL players Demarcus Williams, Nathan Palmer, Keshun Freeman, Olrick Johnson Jr., Stephen Pierce, and Cameron Newton stole the spotlight on Sunday with a moving performance of the National Anthem. Dressed in winter attire instead of their usual jerseys and cleats, the group delivered a powerful rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at MetLife Stadium.

The performance was a nostalgic moment, as the group consists entirely of retired gridiron pros. Despite playing for different teams and holding various positions during their NFL careers, they came together on stage united by their shared passion, creating an inspiring moment for fans.

Stephen Pierce, a former NFL wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, showcased his leadership skills and advocacy work after leaving professional football, serving as the president of the San Diego chapter of NFL Former Players and Pro Players Inc. He even made an appearance on America’s Got Talent Season 17, showing his talents beyond the gridiron.

Cameron Newton, a former quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, joined the group after his NFL career. He participated in America’s Got Talent as part of The Players Choir, demonstrating his versatility and talents off the field.

Keshun Freeman, who played as a linebacker for the New Orleans Saints, briefly entered the NFL in 2018 before being waived before the regular season began. Olrick Johnson Jr., another former linebacker, had stints with the New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings during his time in the league.

Nathan Palmer, a former wide receiver for teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and Oakland Raiders, transitioned to a music career after his NFL days. He has performed at various shows, including the Englewood Music Fest, showcasing his diverse talents beyond the football field.
