Kristina Mills Embraces “Uncle J” Nickname on Survivor 49

Kristina Mills, a contestant on Survivor 49, has been facing criticism for her nickname “Uncle J” for host Jeff Probst. In a recent TikTok video, she addressed the origins of the nickname and why she isn’t bothered by the backlash.

While filming Survivor in Fiji earlier this year, Mills explained that her inspiration for the nickname came from her love for Big Brother and a contestant referring to host Julie Chen Moonves as “auntie.” When she finally met Probst, she decided to call him “Uncle Jeffrey,” a nickname he didn’t mind at all.

Throughout the season, Mills has been open about the recent passing of her mother and how being on the show has helped her confront her grief. Calling Probst “Uncle J” became a source of comfort for her during the challenging filming process.

Interestingly, Mills wasn’t the only contestant on Survivor 49 to dub Probst as “Uncle.” Fellow castaway Jawan Pitts also used the nickname, leading to some playful banter between the two.

Despite facing criticism from fans and viewers, Mills remains unbothered by the negative comments about her nickname choice. She emphasized that there are more important things to worry about than what she calls someone on TV.

As Survivor continues to air on CBS, fans can tune in to see how Mills and the other contestants navigate the challenges of the competition. And while some may not understand her choice of nickname, one thing is clear: Kristina Mills is staying true to herself, no matter what anyone else thinks.
