Deeper Christian Life Ministry Updates Marriage Rules Under Pastor Kumuyi’s Leadership

The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, recently announced updates to the church’s marriage rules during the 2025 Global Family and Marriage Conference. He clarified that some of the old rules were administrative guidelines and not scriptural. One significant change is the cancellation of the rule that banned women from visiting men they intended to marry. Now, intending couples can visit each other during courtship with an elder present.

Additionally, Pastor Kumuyi emphasized that the six-month mandatory courtship period was a human arrangement and not a biblical command. He stressed the importance of distinguishing between God’s commandments and church traditions, advising Christians to be mature in their understanding. The church’s marriage committees were designed to offer guidance, not to replace biblical authority.

Kumuyi warned against overstepping boundaries, reminding leaders not to exercise authority beyond what is written in the scriptures.
