Meghan Markle Makes Startling Confession About Motherhood

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has opened up about the unexpected realities of motherhood, admitting it hasn’t unfolded as she “envisioned it.”

During a recent episode of her “Confessions of a Female Founder” podcast, she spoke with Kitsch founder Cassandra Thurswell about her experiences with son Prince Archie (born 2019) and daughter Princess Lilibet (born 2021).

Meghan shared that she had “always wanted to be a mum” and had a clear “vision” of giving speeches “with a baby on my hip.”

However, she explained, “I had a lot of external things happening by the time I had both pregnancies and both babies. But it was not the way I envisioned it.”

This likely refers to the tumultuous period of “Megxit” in 2020, when she and Prince Harry stepped back as senior working royals and moved to the US, and her controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 shortly before Lilibet’s birth.

The closest Meghan came to her initial vision was during the 2019 South Africa tour with five-month-old Archie, where she held him while meeting Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Despite planning the trip around Archie’s feeding times, she and Harry were reportedly struggling with royal life and intense media scrutiny behind the scenes.

Now, as she launches her new lifestyle brand, As Ever, and a Netflix series, Meghan emphasized the importance of her children seeing her as a “working mom.”
