TikTok Star Rachel Yaffe Dies at 27 After Battle With Rare Liver Cancer

TikTok star Rachel Yaffe has passed away at the age of 27 after battling a rare liver cancer for several years.

Her family confirmed her death in an obituary, stating she died on Friday, October 11. Yaffe was diagnosed with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma when she was just 20 years old.

Throughout her journey, she shared her experiences and treatments on Instagram and TikTok, amassing a following of over 55,000.

In September, Yaffe posted her last social media update, a TikTok video where she discussed her “life updates and priorities” while coping with stage 4 cancer.

In the 58-second video, Yaffe shared that she had “lost so much of my strength” during a recent radiation treatment and mentioned that she was “occasionally” dealing with a reduced appetite while trying to stick to a diet designed for cancer recovery.

“It’s been a little bit difficult both physically and mentally, but I’m focusing on the small things that bring me joy and prioritizing my mental health,” she said in the TikTok posted on September 1.

The late content creator shared her journey, including both the highs and lows, on her social media platforms, offering fans a glimpse into her daily healing routine.

In an Instagram Reel from June, Yaffe mentioned that she had temporarily lost her “ability to walk,” but had since recovered and was seen dancing with a friend in the video.

In another clip from December 2023, she reflected on her time as a Division 1 lacrosse player before her cancer diagnosis, stating, “The sports field was my happy place,” in the text overlay.

“I have so many dreams for my future [and] am passionate about sharing my life journey with others so they can skip the tough times and head straight for the joyful, healthy ones,” she continued.

Yaffe’s family noted in her obituary that they are accepting donations for Experience Camps, a nonprofit organization that supports grieving children.
