The 31-year-old has denied undergoing plastic surgery after giving birth to her third child with ex, Offset. Cardi addressed the rumours in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Oct. 5, telling people to “relax” and explaining that her body looks the way it does naturally. She clarified that her hourglass figure has been exaggerated recently by the shapewear she’s been wearing.
She also responded to critics questioning her choice to work out one week after giving birth, explaining that she was only doing cardio to keep herself active and stave off postpartum depression.
Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, further discussed a procedure she had back in January to remove butt injections, stating that her body’s current appearance is not a result of recent surgery.
“Y’all really need to relax,” Cardi wrote on X. “This is how my body REALLY LOOKS LIKE.”
The “WAP” rapper added that her hourglass figure has been “exaggerated” recently because of the shapewear she’s been wearing. “I want y’all to think with y’all’s brain,” she added. “Y’all were just praising my body a few days ago … do y’all think I went and got surgery in 2 days?”
Cardi, who shares daughter Kulture, 6, and son Wave, 3, with Offset, welcomed her third child on Sept. 7. Since then, she has returned to the gym, beginning light workouts a week after giving birth.
After sharing her workout routine, Cardi defended herself against criticism, clarifying that she’s taking it easy in her postpartum journey. “This is my third baby, and postpartum has been a little different from my first two,” she replied to a commenter. “I’m not doing [heavy] lifting, no muscle straining, squatting, none of that… just cardio. Sometimes, to avoid postpartum depression, you gotta keep your mind busy, and for me, that’s work and staying active.”
The Grammy winner also opened up about a previous procedure in January to remove more of her butt injections. “In January, right after I shot ‘Like What,’ I went and got surgery,” Cardi shared on Instagram Live on Sept. 29. “I had some more butt injections removed because it takes rounds to get them out, and I also went to fix certain things with my fibrosis.”
Cardi added, “I’ve never been the type to care about ‘snap back’ after birth. I don’t know what it is about this time around, but I have this burst of energy where I want to do EVERYTHING… It’s like I want to complete all my goals in one day.”
