Taylor Swift has now surpassed Rihanna to become the world’s wealthiest female musician, with an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion.
Swift’s rise was confirmed on Saturday, October 5th, when Forbes updated her net worth, attributing her success to the historic Eras Tour and the ongoing popularity of her music catalogue.
She now not only leads the list of richest female musicians—overtaking Rihanna’s $1.4 billion net worth—but also ranks No. 2 among the wealthiest musicians overall, second only to Jay-Z, who is valued at $2.5 billion.
Swift is also unique as the first musician in history to achieve billionaire status primarily through recordings and live performances rather than business ventures.
A year after reaching the billionaire milestone, Forbes now estimates that her assets include $600 million from royalties and touring, another $600 million from her catalogue, and $125 million in real estate.
Swift has been a regular on “wealthiest musician” lists, but her recent growth has been remarkable. In 2020, she was valued at $365 million, meaning she’s accumulated over $1.2 billion in the past four years alone.
Despite this, Rihanna still holds the title of “Richest Female Musician of All Time,” thanks to a previous peak net worth of $1.77 billion. However, Swift may claim that title, too, once she wraps up her Eras Tour later this year in the US and Canada.
Swift also recently endorsed Kamala Harris for president, drawing a reaction from Donald Trump, who predicted the singer would “pay a price” for her endorsement.
