Cardi B is taking a new approach to her post-baby experience following the birth of her third child.
After sharing the news of her newborn’s arrival in an Instagram post on Thursday, Sept. 12, the 31-year-old rapper revealed that her perspective is “a bit changed” during this postpartum phase.
“I’m not doing heaving lifting, no muscle straining, squatting none of that… just cardio. Sometimes to avoid postpartum depression you gotta keep your mind busy and for me that’s work and staying active…,” wrote Cardi while responding to a fan on X who spoke out about one of the musician’s workout videos.
The Grammy winner, who is a mom to son Wave, 3, and daughter Kulture, 6, with her estranged husband Offset, 32, went on to address those who “dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant.”
“Now yall fake concerned and wanna talk about pressure??? Y’all said I was pregnant to avoid working now that you see I’m still at it it’s something else?? So yeah I’m taking this personal but its FOR ME because either way y’all are gonna have something to say,” she wrote.
The fan replied to Cardi, explaining that her post was based on “society’s expectations of women and ‘snap back’ culture,” which inspired Cardi to post another message.
“Snap back” culture is the “celebration of a new parent who can quickly transform their body back to its pre-baby state, showcasing a return to their youthful appearance, slimmer figure, and attractiveness in a short time.”
“Totally babe!!” wrote Cardi in a follow-up post. “And I do agree about society and pressure…I just was never the type to care about snap back after birth. I don’t know what it is about this time around but I have this burst of energy where I want to do EVERYTHING… It’s like I want to complete all my goals in one day.”
Cardi’s comments followed videos on her Instagram stories showing her workout on the stair master machine.
Although she hasn’t disclosed her new baby’s name, she previously expressed her love for her newborn, describing her as “so cute and tiny.”
