Kehlani is taking legal steps against her ex, Javaughn Young-White, in the midst of a custody dispute involving their daughter.
The “After Hours” artist, filed a temporary restraining order against her ex in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, as per documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Following this legal action, Young-White, aged 27, is now under restrictions from contacting Kehlani and their 5-year-old daughter, Adeya Nomi, directly or indirectly, which includes phone calls or emails.
Moreover, he is required to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from them, their residence, workplace, and the child care facility at all times.
While the restraining order is active, Kehlani, 29, who was in a relationship with Young-White from 2018 to 2019, retains full physical and legal custody of Adeya.
The court documents also state that “there is a risk that [Young-White] might take the children without permission” due to his history of “abuse” and “not cooperating” with Kehlani.
As part of the restraining order, Young-White is forbidden from taking Adeya out of California, applying for travel documents, or possessing firearms and ammunition.
A hearing for the restraining order request is scheduled for Sept. 3.
The day before, Kehlani submitted another document accusing Young-White of domestic abuse.
In the filing, Kehlani accused him of causing “emotional harm, disturbing my peace, causing me to fear for my safety and our daughter’s safety.”
“He created a media frenzy that has now resulted in many people harassing me online,” she wrote in the filing regarding an alleged incident in August.
“This is also terrible for our young daughter, who is not a public figure and should not be shown on sites and other media outlets. I have had to hire private security at our home to protect us.”
According to the filing, in a separate incident in early June, Kehlani alleges that he became extremely angry when she asked him to “finally leave my home and not return,” leading him to “smash through my locked bedroom doors.”
During this episode, he reportedly insulted her, calling her a “bitch” and a “liar,” and blamed Kehlani for their daughter’s birth, claiming they “ruined” his “life.”
She also said he was using “psychedelic mushrooms, smoking pot every day all day long in our daughter’s presence” while staying in a back house on her property for co-parenting purposes.
When Adeya would visit him, she would come back “reeking of marijuana.” “His mood was dark.
He was acting out and causing me to feel unsafe in my home,” they stated in the filing. “In the past when he got like this, he would often have religious rants, and I believe become so high he was in a semi-psychotic state.”
In the filing, Kehlani once more asked that Young-White refrains from contacting her and stays more than 100 yards away from her at all times. They also requested that he does not have visiting rights.
