What Career Lesson Did You Learn In 2025?

2025 is over but the lessons learnt from last year still linger on. From friendship lessons to lessons on navigating life with family members, the online space has been filled with people sharing what 2025 meant for them.

It is however important that women share what they learnt in 2025 career wise because we have unique experiences in our career journeys.

In our latest listicle, Urban Woman Magazine spoke to some women and asked them to share their career lessons from 2025.

So, I freelance and also run a writing business by the side. One thing I learnt last year is to market yourself profusely so your business/career almost becomes your identity.

Last year, I showed up on social media, I leveraged platforms that will showcase me to my target audience, and at every chance I got, I told people what I did and that opened doors for me. I’m carrying that same energy to 2026.

Also, audacity. You don’t need to know everything, just have audacity and everything will fall into place as you go.

One major career lesson I learned in 2025 is that my biggest challenge has been consistency and focus.

I really had always wanted to know what the problem was, because I was certain I deserved more than I had.

As an ADHD girlie, I’ve come to realize that I tend to operate in bursts. I’ve had really impressive moments in my career and some solid highlights, but very few of them were sustainable long-term.

Last year, during a review session with my boss, everything came down to one clear point: consistency and focus.

It was honestly heartbreaking to sit with how much I’ve probably lost out on because I lacked both. But it was also clarifying, because now that I’ve been guided to name the problem, I feel very certain and empowered to crush it!

So going into 2026, my mantra is consistency over intensity.

I’m intentionally building structure into how I work, learning to stop postponing things, and very deliberately eliminating distractions from my space. The goal right now is steady growth and showing up even when motivation is low.
