What is Your Favourite Women Hosted Podcast and Why?

In our ever growing digital world, podcasts are fast becoming a necessary part of living, learning and unlearning. However, podcasts are also becoming synonymous to places where men espouse sexist ideals and norms.

For this reason, it is very important that pro women podcasts and especially women centered/hosted podcasts are amplified and promoted.

In the latest listicle, Urban Woman Magazine asked some women to share their favourite women-hosted podcasts and why they admire them.

Read their responses below.

Call Her Daddy.

The tips shared there are just Gold for any woman building a career.

They also bring the most interesting guests. Michelle Obama, Kim Kardashian, Phoebe Gates etc etc.

My favorite woman hosted podcast in the whole world.

I won’t necessarily call it a Feminist podcast.

But I enjoy:

1. Career contesta

2. ISWIS

3. Toni Told Me

I enjoy that because they remind me that I’m unstoppable as a woman. That I’m strong and able to achieve my dreams.

I’d recommend the Bitter Feminist podcast by Ijeoma Chinonyerem.

Mine is the slumflower hour because it teaches you how to navigate dating and men in a way that protects you and your interest (that is if you want to date them, because the podcast also strongly advocates against dating men).

Chidera, the host doesn’t consider the podcast a feminist podcast because of the backlash from some women saying that her ideas aren’t feminist but me I think it is.

Anyways I believe this podcast in particular is important because as we fight for women’s rights and equality, many of us still have to date and marry men or even have male friends, this podcast teaches you how to do so without losing yourself to the game of patriarchy.

My favorite women-hosted/feminist podcast is ISWIS. Jola and Fk are my online big sisters.

I’ve learnt so much from them when it comes to friendship, relationship and just life in general.

It is very necessary to have podcasts like these because they talk about uncomfortable topics.
